MABREY BRIDGE SITE - CCR completed and archaeological data recovery at the Mabrey Bridge Site (31ED333), a multicomponent site in the northern Coastal Plain region of North Carolina.  The project was conducted for NCDOT in preparation for the replacement of a bridge over Fishing Creek, a major tributary of the Tar River.  The project yielded evidence for recurrent seasonal occupation of the Fishing Creek floodplain during the Woodland period.  Recovery of the refuse from a single 18th Century featured offered insights into the early settlement of Edgecombe County.
